In Private Moon, his most recent series of work, Tishkov places himself in elaborately staged photographs that explore personal and shared connections to the moon. The surface and writing amplifi es the idea that everyone has a personal relationship with the moon. Tishkov was born in the Ural Mountains and came to Moscow in the 70s to study medicine, but in the early 80s he gave up his medical practice for art. Tishkov was featured in the recent MoMA exhibition, “Out of Europe.” |
